Bernar / Sainz de Vicuña Arquitectos was founded in 1985 by Manuel Bernar, Ignacio and Joaquín Sainz de Vicuña. The firm is based in Madrid. B/SV and offers the full range of architectural services, both new built and refurbishment projects, in major Spanish cities.
B/SV has wide experience in retail, commercial,leisure, hospitality and residential projects.
B/SV covers the entire design and construction process, from inception to completion, ranging from urban design to interior design.
This experience and global approach to architectural practice is an added value in each phase of the design process, and a great help when coordinating the several project phases. B/SV has a capable and competent infrastructure, with a large experience in the formation of multidisciplinary teams, and specialized consultants highly qualified to work with international clients and collaborators.
In B/SV we give special importance to sustainability and to environmental friendly design, being this approach a result of the continued specialization of its partners in both the USA and Spain.Climate and solar control or smart designs are an intrinsic part of our solutions and projects. We aim to achieve the optimal balance between ecological, economical and social sustainability in our projects and buildings.
We are committed to providing a personal and highly professional service to our clients. Each project is directly administrated by one of the partners, always in close contact with the client, and fully responsible of the project.
B/SV Arquitectos is qualified to endorse its projects in the different territorial Orders of Architects.
In masterplaning, B/SV has developed several proposals for tourist areas, as mixed used resorts including golf fields, marinas,and landscaping .

Born in 1954, Manuel Bernar is Architect by the ETSAM since 1980. He has a master degree in bioclimatic architecture from the University of California UCLA (1982). He is an expert in structure calculation, computer aided design, energy conservation and refurbishment.
After some years of professional experience both in the USA and in Spain, in 1985 he founded B/SV Arquitectos. In 1992, he participated also as founder in PERSPECTIVE EEIG.
He has also been assistant professor in Building Climatology in UCLA, and since then, has taught and lectured in Passive solar Architecture.
He is a member of the professional order of Architects in Madrid.

Born in 1949, Joaquín Sainz de Vicuña is an ETSAM Architect since 1976. In 1988 he studied the seminar of Real Estate in the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and in the Sport and Architecture course in the Madrid Institute of Architects and Málaga University. He is an expert in office spaces, refurbishment and sports and leisure.
After working in Harris Bosch Aymerich as chief of the Architecture department, in 1985 he becomes founder member of B/SV Arquitectos, and in 1992 of PERSPECTIVE EEIG.
He has also been consultant at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid; and professor in the University of San Pablo-CEU.
He is member of the professional order of Architects in Madrid (COAM), where he was also member in the Deontological Commission.

Born in 1955, Ignacio Sainz de Vicuña is Architect by the ETSAM since 1980. He has a master degree in bioclimatic architecture from the University of California UCLA (1982). He is an expert in energy conservation, refurbishment, corporate buildings and hotels and social clubs.
After some years of professional experience both in the USA and in Spain, in 1985 he founded B/SV Arquitectos. In 1992, he participates also as founder in PERSPECTIVE EEIG, where he is actually member of the Boarding Direction.
He is a member of the professional order of Architects in Madrid (COAM).
He has been chairperson of the Consel of Professional Practice in the Madrid Order of Architects, where he is actually elected member in the Board of Representatives.
He is chaiperson of the Counsel of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Madrid, as well as member of Hispania Nostra.
BSV International & Perspective
In 1992, B/SV becomes a founder member of Perspective Architectural Group (PSP), a European Association of Architectural practices.
PSP was formed to respond the increasingly international trends in the business environment. The goal is to offer multinational clients global professional services in conjunction with proven dependable local partners. All the members are stablished practices in their own countries, providing independent architectural and related services nationwide to a uniformly high standard.
PSP improves the profesional capacity of each individual practice, sharing skills, expertise, technical knownledge and resources, in addition to contributing to the success of the group.
PSP is formed by practices in 8 countries, and has a strategic expansion plan to other countries in Europe.
B/SV has developed with his PSP partners several projects in Madrid, including a residential project in Carabanchel for the City of Madrid, or the refurbishment of the new headquarters for the French Embassy, and actually is working jointly with them, in other residential projects with sustainable goals. Our European partners from Paris, Antwerp or Poland develop initiatives for Spanish promotors through B/SV.
